Real places that light up

NeonAlley — a Tokyo alley in the rain

A Tokyo back street in the rain, its neon signs lighting up with the music.

What NeonAlley shows

NeonAlley is built from two photographs of the same Tokyo alley at night, in the rain: signs off, then signs on. Every sign, lantern and shop window becomes a lamp that Halofloor switches on individually.

The neon flickers on the beat, the lanterns blaze on the choruses and reflections run across the wet pavement. The perfect world for synthwave, lo-fi, R&B, city pop and trip-hop.
