What Mycelium shows

Mycelium simulates tens of thousands of agents on your graphics card, like the slime mould searching for food. Each one follows the trail left by the others and lays down its own: busy paths grow stronger, the rest fade, and a network of nodes, loops and branches emerges and keeps reorganising, in golden threads on black, sometimes in cool blues.

The network is already woven when it appears. Its shape changes slowly, from thick veins to fine meshes or swirls, and grows finer and faster as the music livens up. About every eight seconds a food source appears: the network converges on it, then leaves it once it runs out. For rhythmic ambient, soft IDM, neoclassical and downtempo.

Questions about Mycelium

What music does Mycelium suit best?

Mycelium is designed for rhythmic ambient, soft IDM, neoclassical, downtempo, ideally between 50 and 130 BPM. Halofloor picks it on its own when a song suits it, and you can also force it from the console.

Is Mycelium free?

Mycelium is part of Halofloor’s free plan, with no time limit and no credit card. Just open the console and start your music.

Is Mycelium a video?

Every frame of Mycelium is computed live by your computer from the song’s analysis: tempo, energy, build-ups and drops. It never repeats from one song to the next.

What kind of TV do I need?

Any TV with an HDMI input works, smart or not. The computer renders the visuals and the TV displays them, with no app to install.
