Kinetic — an installation of hanging spheres

What Kinetic shows

Kinetic recreates the kinetic light installations of big clubs and museums: a grid of frosted glass spheres hanging on cables in a black hall, each on its own winch. They rise and fall together and draw waves, ripples, a turning saddle, a dome, a helix or a spectrum, mirrored by a glossy black floor.

The bass sets the amplitude of the moves, a row of spheres flashes white on every beat, the highs make the highest ones twinkle. The camera turns slowly on every bar and the choreography changes on every phrase. The winches have a bounded speed: no sphere ever jumps. In a build-up everything sinks and flattens; on the drop everything rises at once into a dome.
