What Poincare shows

Poincare draws a tiling of the hyperbolic plane inside the Poincaré disc, like the “Circle Limit” prints but in neon: heptagons, pentagons or squares shrinking to infinity toward the rim. The edges are lines of light of constant width, and each tile carries a motif at its own scale.

On every beat a hyperbolic translation slides the whole tiling by exactly one tile, as if you were moving through an infinite curved world; the direction changes on the bar and the tiling changes on the phrase. In a build-up everything speeds up and swirls toward a point on the rim; on the drop the disc turns inside out, centre and rim swap, then the march resumes.

Questions about Poincare

What music does Poincare suit best?

Poincare is designed for techno, psytrance, progressive, ideally between 110 and 150 BPM. Halofloor picks it on its own when a song suits it, and you can also force it from the console.

Is Poincare free?

Poincare is part of Halofloor’s free plan, with no time limit and no credit card. Just open the console and start your music.

Is Poincare a video?

Every frame of Poincare is computed live by your computer from the song’s analysis: tempo, energy, build-ups and drops. It never repeats from one song to the next.

What kind of TV do I need?

Any TV with an HDMI input works, smart or not. The computer renders the visuals and the TV displays them, with no app to install.
